General:
Low, matted shrub; stems erect or ascending, 10-40 cm tall, finely glandular-hairy.
Leaves:
Alternate, evergreen, spreading-ascending, linear, 4-12 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, grooved beneath, finely glandular-hairy, margins appearing to be rolled under and blunt-toothed.
Flowers:
Several to many, nodding to erect in terminal clusters; flower stalks 2-3 cm long, densely glandular-hairy; corollas yellowish to greenish-white, narrowly urn-shaped, 5-9 mm long, glandular-hairy externally, the lobes spreading; calyx lobes greenish, narrowly lance-shaped, 3-5 mm long, sharp-pointed, glandular-hairy; filaments hairy, anthers purplish.
Fruits:
Capsules, nearly globe-shaped, 3-5 mm long, nearly as wide, glandular-hairy.

Habitat / Range

Dry to moist open forest, meadows, and heath in the upper montane to alpine zones; frequent throughout BC; N to SE AK, YT, and NT, E to W AB, and S to OR and WY.
